Hello there. The Wylam Parish Council website exists primarily to inform local residents about the role of the Parish Council, and promote its activities in involving the community.
We welcome your feedback and if there is anything you think the Parish Council should be doing on your behalf or anything you think we should show on this website please do not hesitate to contact us.
Welcome to Wylam, a thriving village about 10 miles west of Newcastle upon Tyne, just into the county of Northumberland. It is famous for being the birthplace of George Stephenson, one of the early rail pioneers. He was born in 1781 in a house now known as George Stephenson's Birthplace, which can found three quarters of a mile east of the village centre on the north side of the Tyne. It is owned by the National Trust and is currently closed, except for occasional special openings. Stephenson left Wylam when he was eight years old and his engineering work happened elsewhere.

Wylam Parish Council have received and approved the Annual Governance and Accountability Return (AGAR) 2022-23. Any person interested in inspecting the unaudited AGAR has the right to inspect and make copies for the financial year to which the audit relates. The Notice of Public Rights and Publication of Unaudited Annual Governance and Accountability Return sets out these rights and how to exercise them.
